To showcase the beauty of the woodwork in Christ’s Lutheran Church, the Church Council, along with the congregation, decided to have the sanctuary remodeled. Because this is our place of worship, it was very important for us to keep the Cross and the natural light stream as the focal point in the front of our sanctuary. Bruce Construction served as the general contractor of GreenForge, Westmoreland County’s first green rehabilitated commercial building. GreenForge is a previously vacant, 23,000 square foot building along Donahue Road in Hempfield Township.
Purchasing the Northern Tollhouse and nearby Victorian Farmhouse presented me with the opportunity to preserve a forgotten piece of history in the Murrysville area. My family has roots dating back to the original track of land, and original structures, located in Westmoreland County.
The tollhouse had been vacant for many decades. The farmhouse had more recently been occupied. However, both structures were in need of extensive restorations and repairs to preserve as much of the original historic integrity as possible.Read More
